Michael seeks to get equal coverage through the mass media between the two sides of the debate over survival. The media are biased against the scientific fact of survival: the BBC in particular doesn’t cover the subject fairly and gives too much weight to the debunkers, priests, mullahs, rabbis and representatives of the established way of thinking – is this democracy or the thought police? You decide.

THOMAS PAINE - Arthur Findlay believed strongly in the principles of freedom and democracy and devoted over a dozen pages of his book The Curse of Ignorance Vol. 2 (P397- 410) to the greatest “champion of liberty and justice … Thomas Paine (1736-1809)”.
Throughout his later works Arthur made many references to the great contribution Thomas Paine made to unshackling people from the yoke of the Christian Church.

There is without any doubt whatsoever scientific evidence for the existence of the afterlife. There is also a chapter which informs about some of the most brilliant respected scientists and investigators who ever walked this planet earth who used their scientific knowledge and skills to investigate the afterlife and did find that the afterlife exists.

Dr Victor Zammit states not to reject any evidence just because the evidence is not consistent with your own cherished beliefs. He says that we tend to be products of our own environment, our own upbringing. >From the time we are born we absorb information from our family, friends, schools, the media. Also, we must not forget that we are born into a world environment with its own unique culture, history and tradition.

Inevitably, beliefs become deeply emotional and they are also neurological. We know that when we hear any information not consistent with our own cherished beliefs, we tend to reject that information. Why? Our mind will put up defenses to protect our bias, our partiality: because the inconsistent information will give us anxiety, elicit fear and will tend to destabilize us emotionally. Imagine how you would feel if you were an American deeply entrenched in Christianity being told by a fundamental Moslem that you are completely wrong in your beliefs – and that only Islam is the way to ‘salvation'!

We must also accept that if you the reader were born in the Middle East, you are very likely to be a Moslem – and in some instances you would have recited Allah Akbah (GOD IS GREAT) a number of times already. If you were born in India you would have totally different world view and beliefs to a Westerner. Or if you were born in Japan or China you would certainly have different beliefs if born in other countries.

Understand that whenever there is an inconsistency between ‘scientific' knowledge and traditional or ‘personal beliefs', inevitably scientific knowledge prevails over personal beliefs. It cannot be any other way. We remember what happened at the time of scientist Galileo in Italy who used his knowledge of science and stated that the earth is NOT in the centre of the universe and that it is the earth which revolves around the sun - not the sun revolves around the earth. The Christian Catholic Church eventually – after many years had to accept` that science prevails over their personal religious beliefs and the Church admitted it was wrong. This is also an example of continuous refinement in knowledge.

This is critical information to understand - because what ultimately is important for you to know and fully understand on this planet earth - is the truth based on information which can be repeatedly tested for validity.

The ‘scientific' evidence for the afterlife is irrefutable – has never been shown it is wrong. Introduction

This newsletter is for anyone who has ever lost an animal they loved. People can form very deep bonds with members of other species and the death of a non-human friend can be devastating. It can also feel very isolating because of a fundamental lack of understanding out there.

For example, how many workplaces do you know that would allow compassionate leave? Have you ever seen sympathy cards designed specifically for someone who has lost an animal friend? (I have – once). Animals do not have funerals – unless you conduct your own private ceremony in your back garden. How do people react when you tell them you are upset because the budgie died? At worst there is ridicule, at best an assumption that you will be ‘over it’ in a couple of days – unless you talk to someone who has been there themselves. You may well make a quick recovery, or it might take many weeks, months or even years. One thing is certain. Though the pain does diminish over time, you will never forget that special friend – every human being, every animal and every relationship between the two is unique. If you feel the loss, you are not alone; you are not mad; your grief is perfectly understandable. It is normal.

Things are gradually improving. Animal bereavement is slowly becoming more publicly recognised. There are now help-lines you can ring who will provide a sympathetic ear to your distress; you can post a message and, if you like, a photograph of the departed animal on the internet; you can buy animal coffins and have your animal cremated or buried in special cemeteries – complete with headstone. (See the Resources section at the end of this newsletter). Everyone is different, and these ideas may appeal to you strongly – or not at all. There are no rights and wrongs; everyone has the right to grieve and get through it in their own individual way.

I hope you will find something in this newsletter that strikes a chord with you, whether you are in the first stage of acute sorrow and need to know that there are people who understand, or whether you are coming to terms with the loss and want to celebrate your friend by remembering his or her life. Please feel free to pass the newsletter on to others who may derive comfort from it. The newsletter is ‘anti-copyright’ so you can photocopy as many as you like, or let me know if you want me to send you any extra. I plan to produce the newsletter roughly every two months.
